The Top Solutions dialog displays the list of top-scoring designs that PI Expert has produced after the optimization process. The Top Solutions dialog allows you to choose the solution you prefer based on the information available. The number of the solutions presented in the dialog is specified in the Solutions Filter dialog box prior to optimization. The title of the Top Solutions dialog displays the number of solutions being displayed along with the total number of viable designs that PI Expert considered when selecting the top solutions.
For example, if you have a design with a 5 V and 12 V output, the software might determine that a solution that is closer to the desired set point but on the lower side (for example, 5 V and 11.96 V) is better than a solution with slightly less accurate output but on the higher side of the set point (for example, 5 V and 12.1 V). In practice, the second solution can be more desirable, even though it is less accurate. And the Top Solutions dialog allows you to select the design variables that are most useful to you.
You can click the Select Fields button to open the Select Fields dialog box where you can change the set of the design variables or their order in the Top Solutions dialog.
To open the desired solution click the corresponding row and click the Open button. The design will then be opened in either the Design Results, Schematic, Board Layout, BOM, or Transformer Construction as specified in User Preferences, Design Defaults.
You can cancel the optimization results and open the created design without and return to the previous state, before optimization, by clicking the Cancel button.
