The Fuse library is one of the component library types within the Component Library included in PI Expert.. Once a fuse is added to the library and included in a Component Set, you can manually choose your custom fuse to be used where applicable. Fuses are used in the input stage of any AC/DC power supply to guarantee safety against fault conditions that may arise in the power supply.
PI Expert does not allow you to modify or delete the default components. You can only view the parameters of a selected component type by clicking the View button. You can add custom components to the Component Library by clicking the Add button in the Component Library dialog where you can input all relevant specifications for a particular component. See the Component Library topic for more information on adding and editing components.
To add a fuse you can specify the following parameters:
Rated Voltage – The rated AC Rms Voltage at which fuse should be used
Rated Current – The rated AC Rms Current at which fuse should be used
Breaking Capacity – The voltage at which fuse can interrupt without causing arcing
Type – Time lag fuse or Fast acting fuse
Part Number – Manufacturer part number
Manufacturer – Name of manufacturer
Package – Package of fuse
