Current Limit (PD-Pin) Components Dialog

During power-up the cycle-by-cycle current limit is determined by measuring the resistor value connected to the PROGRAM pin. The current limit can be set between 40% and 100% of the nominal value in steps of 10%. This is done using the ‘external current limit reduction factor’ which specifies the factor by which the current limit will be scaled down. The resulting PD pin resistor will be displayed as RIL.

Additionally, the PD pin can be used to increase the auto-restart on-time. The default auto-restart shutdown delay time (typ. 35ms) can optionally be extended by connecting a capacitor to the PROGRAM pin. The user can enter the desired auto-restart on-time extension and PIExpert will calculate the corresponding PD pin capacitor. After selecting the appropriate standard capacitor, the actual value of the extended auto-restart time is calculated.
