LITZ WIRE

Litz wire - multistrand wire, consisting of many thin wire strands, individually insulated and twisted or woven together, following one of several carefully prescribed patterns. Litz wire reducing the skin effect and proximity effect losses.

You can choose to use litz wire type and Litz Wire dialog will open.

The Litz Wire Requirements section displays the parameters required for automatic litz wire selection from the wire database.

You can select a wire from the database or specify the parameters for custom wire. To do this, select the appropriate option in the dropdown box next to the requirement section. By default, litz wire automatically selected from the database, based on required parameters. User can select different litz wire from the table in the Litz Wire Database section. If user select the User Type option

User Defined Litz Wire section becomes enabled

 you can specify values for custom wire:

Single strand, AWG - single strand wire size.

Strands - number of strands in litz wire.

Overall dia, mm - overall litz wire diameter. It’s calculated automatically after user changes Single strand wire size and number of strands. Could be overwritten by user.

CMA, Cmils/A - current capacity of the winding.

Insulation type - type of litz wire insulation (Served, Unserved, Triple).

Insulation material - litz wire insulation material.

Part number - manufacturer’s part number

Manufacturer - litz wire manufacturer
