PI Expert Suite™ consists of four innovative, easy to use and time-saving power supply design software tools created by Power Integrations: PI Expert, PI Xls. The tools create designs utilizing one of Power Integrations’ products which include simple, On/Off control devices as well as PWM devices, with output power from 1 W to over 300 W.

PI Expert is an automated, graphical user interface (GUI) driven program that takes power supply specifications and automatically generates a power conversion solution designed around one of Power Integrations’ IC families. PI Expert gives you all necessary information to build and test a working prototype. This includes the full schematic and BOM which includes the input circuitry, device selection and device feature utilization, clamp circuitry and feedback circuitry. PI Expert also provides a complete magnetic design that includes core size, number of turns, appropriate wire thicknesses and number of parallel wires to be used for each winding. Detailed winding instructions for mechanical assembly are also generated.

PI Xls is a spreadsheet based tool which takes specifications to create a power conversion solution. Unlike PI Expert, PI Xls, requires you to choose key operating parameters to complete the design process. The software helps to speed the design process significantly by displaying the results of your choices so that the design may be evaluated immediately for the desired performance. PI Xls also produces a complete magnetics design.
