Wire gauges thicker than AWG 24 are not recommended because they have higher AC losses (due to skin effect) and are difficult to wind and terminate.

Poor performance may result from using thicker than optimal wire.

• Use multiple strands (filar) of thinner gauge wires in parallel.

• Use a foil winding instead.
