Notification 212 - Maximum duty cycle (DMAX) limit has been exceeded

FIX / REFERENCE(S)

Failure

Maximum duty cycle (DMAX) is above the
PI Component

device limit.

The power supply may not deliver maximum output power, at the worst-case condition of lowest overall efficiency, which includes low-line AC input voltage and the highest rated ambient temperature.

  • Increase the size of the bulk capacitance (CIN), which will increase the minimum input voltage (VMIN).

  • Decrease the reflected output voltage (VOR).

  • If the design is intended to operate in the discontinuous conduction mode, increase the current waveform parameter
    ( KP).

  • Decrease the power supply’s output power requirements (PO).

  • Increase the minimum AC input voltage (VACMIN).

  • See the TOP232-234  and TOP242-250  data sheets for the value of DMAX.

[DMAX = VOR / (VOR + VMIN - VDS ), or when KP > 1.0, DMAX = VOR / (VOR + (KP x VMIN ),see  Application Notes  AN-26 (-FX)  or AN-32 (-GX) ]
